How can I prevent my MacBook from driving the bluetooth volume of my phone?

I have ma Marshall speaker that has the (annoying) feature of letting two devices get connected to it. Volume of received signal is driven by a rotation button.

I use bluetooth keyboard and mouse on my MacBook, so I can not just disable bluetooth on it.

However, when I open my mac, my phone’s volume (connected to the speaker) changes to match the mac’s. And then when I change volume on my mac, it changes the volume on my phone.

Question: How do I disable this “feature” ?

M1 MacBook Pro 16 on MacOS 12.6, Pixel 6 on Android 13, Marshall Kilburn 2
