mac – Runaway VM usage culprit?

From time to time my Mac’s VM (as reported by Activity Monitor Swap Used) gets in a runaway mode, reporting 50GB or more usage (Mac has 32GB), growing ever larger, until the user (me) is automatically logged out. I think I know who the culprit is (a third party package), but I’d like to prove it.

Is there a place in Console reports which would show this? I’ve looked around and don’t see it.
